The tournament was a fantastic day with fabulous weather, interesting information from our tournament sponsors, good golf, delicious food and most of all FUN while we generated an unbelievable $25,000 for both Nursing Education and Cure Diabetes. All of that money will go directly to the two charities which are housed at The Ottawa Hospital Foundation. We thank our sponsors, golfers, supporters and community for the wonderful day. The tournament for 2010 is now history but the memories will live on. The incredible possibilities that emerged from the generosity of our supporters will forever make a difference to both Cure Diabetes & Nursing Education. Thank you all and we hope to see you at this year’s event!

Sarah Swedler Award for the Ladies Longest Drive

This year we wanted to recognize the incredible contribution of a wonderful woman who is no longer with us, but lives on in spirit. Sarah worked tirelessly along with her husband Arnie, to raise money to find a cure for Type 1 Diabetes ever since their daughter Ina developed diabetes at the age of 10. Ina passed on in 1996 but her parents, family, friends, and community at large remember her still.  Avid golfers and tireless volunteers, Sarah and Arnie gave generously to JDRF, Ina’s Fund, CDCC and Cure Diabetes. Sarah passed on in October of 2009 so we wanted her work and her passion to continue. Sarah always reached for the stars so we thought the Ladies Longest Drive was a fitting accomplishment to name after her. Arnie has generously supported our event and provided the prize for the fortunate recipient.
